5 reasons to have a fingerprint tree at your wedding

In this blog post, I talk about a few reasons why you should incorporate a fingerprint illustration into your reception.

Fingerprint trees and thumbprint artwork are more than just a pretty picture to display at your wedding reception. They are also a fun, interactive activity that your guests will enjoy helping to create, and they make a beautiful keepsake to treasure after you are married.

Here are five reasons for adding this guestbook alternative to your wedding celebrations:

1. To create a talking point

I illustrate my fingerprint trees to reflect your personality, including details that are personal to you. Your guests will enjoy taking part in this wedding breakfast activity, using ink pads, to add their finger or thumbprint onto a leaf, covering it all over in little, printed leaves. It’s a pleasant way for your guests to interact as they each find a space to print. Consider including things, such as pets or your venue, to make yours uniquely yours.

 2. To welcome guests

Place your fingerprint illustration at the entrance of your wedding reception, and it doubles as a welcome sign to greet your guests. Perfect for assisting your wedding party in welcoming your friends and family when there isn’t time to receive everyone individually. Include your names, wedding date and venue in the artwork to set the scene from the offset.

3. To offer a guest book alternative

Fingerprint artwork provides an easier, less intimidating option for your guests than a traditional guestbook. Often, people find it difficult to think of something meaningful and heartfelt to write on a blank page, and thumb-printing a leaf is far less daunting. There’s less pressure! Unlike formal guest books, it won’t sit gathering dust inside a drawer after the event either.

4. To fill a quiet moment

Although there’s a lot to schedule on a wedding day, there will undoubtedly be some quieter times. A fingerprint tree is a great activity for your guests to get involved with during these lulls. They’re ideal for when venue staff are changing the room over from wedding breakfast to dance floor, or whilst you, are having a couple’s photoshoot away from the party.

5. To enjoy forever

Once your loved ones have stamped their thumbprint onto your tree, you will have a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Frame it and hang it on your wall at home as a beautiful, daily reminder of the day you got married.

Once I have sold you on commissioning your own fingerprint illustration, drop me a message. Think outside the box, beyond trees – balloons, clouds, birds, hearts or stars also work really effectively.
